Wagokoro Izumi is a distinguished Michelin starred kaiseki restaurant in Kyoto, led by Chef Masaki Izumi — once hailed as the finest apprentice of the famed Japanese restaurant Sakurada.
Chef Izumi is deeply passionate about utsuwa (traditional Japanese tableware), believing that “the utsuwa is like a kimono for the cuisine.” He explains, “Of course, the food itself is essential. But the tableware, the silverware, and even the alcove displaying art or seasonal flowers — all of these elements work together to express the season and bring Japanese cuisine to life.”
At Wagokoro Izumi, every dish reflects Japan’s rich seasonal beauty, combining exquisite flavors, elegant presentation, and heartfelt hospitality.
Experience the harmony of cuisine, craftsmanship, and culture — a true celebration of Japanese tradition — on your next visit to Kyoto.
