Discover Oryori Teuchi Soba Tanikoshi, a hidden gem in Kyoto personally recommended by the Head Chef of a three-star restaurant of Kyoto as well as gourmets as one of the city’s finest soba dining experiences.
After years of mastering traditional Japanese cuisine, Owner and Head Chef Tanikoshi opened his own restaurant, where he showcases handmade soba and refined seasonal dishes. He hand-cuts every noodle himself and crafts each dish with care and precision, creating cuisine that embodies elegance and depth far beyond its price—offering exceptional value for both lunch and dinner.
The restaurant rests along the quiet Sakasegawa River, a picturesque stream beside the Kamo River, just a 3–5 minute walk from Kyoto Kawaramachi Station. Guests climb to the second floor to find a warm, intimate space with a seven-seat counter and three tables, where they can enjoy tranquil views of the river and Kyoto’s old streets—especially stunning in spring when cherry blossoms bloom just outside the window.
With calm precision and a gentle touch, Chef Tanikoshi prepares every dish himself, creating an atmosphere that feels both personal and deeply authentic. Even when the restaurant is full, he encourages guests to relax, take their time, and savor the slow, graceful rhythm of Kyoto.
Although access requires stairs and may be difficult for those with mobility challenges, the restaurant warmly welcomes families with children.
Whether dining solo or with loved ones, guests can fully experience the heartfelt flavors and craftsmanship of Tanikoshi—an exceptional expression of Kyoto’s culinary spirit.
