A French restaurant revived in a historic red-brick Western-style mansion in Osaka, with over 100 years of history and classic charm.

In Osaka’s Yodoyabashi–Kitahama district stands a striking red-brick Western-style mansion, designed by Kingo Tatsuno—known as the “father of modern Japanese architecture” and the mastermind behind iconic landmarks such as Tokyo Station and the Bank of Japan headquarters. With over 110 years of history, this elegant space has now been revived as a French restaurant in 2025.

The building once hosted the legendary Chez Wada, a pioneer in Japan’s French culinary world. Its return as a French restaurant feels like a natural continuation of that legacy.

Leading the kitchen is Grand Chef Fukutaka Kimura. After training at a historic Kobe restaurant, he refined his craft in France at Michelin-starred establishments under an M.O.F.-awarded chef. He now brings that experience back to Japan, blending classic French techniques with innovative touches.

Guests can enjoy elegant French cuisine in a classic and refined setting—but the afternoon tea is equally popular. Featuring sweets and savory items crafted with matcha and premium Japanese ingredients, the afternoon tea offers a delightful array of unique pairings.

Savor French cuisine or afternoon tea at your leisure, all within the charm of a beautifully preserved historical building.
