Edo Ryori refers to the culinary traditions which were developed in Edo (present-day Tokyo) during the Edo period, and it represents the traditional local cuisine of the region.
In the past, Edo was a city where a variety of ingredients from all over the country were gathered to, making it a rich and diverse hub of the country’s culinary scene. Edo cuisine is characterized by visually appealing and playful presentations, featuring many dishes with a refreshing taste and a well-balanced flavor profile, and avoiding excessive oiliness.
Yonemura which was established in 1929 and is located in Ginza, and offers a modern style of this traditional cuisine while preserving the essence of Edo Ryori. This establishment is also distinguished by its ability to plan and host geisha entertainment, which is another prestigious tradition of Ginza. Reservations for 2 or 3 guests are seated at the counter, and a private room can be arranged for groups of 4 or more. Geisha plans are available for reservations in the private room.
In a time in which only a few places with historical and traditional cultural significance remain, Yonemura stands as a unique establishment even in Ginza, and actively shares the culinary culture of Tokyo and Edo to the world.
