Chef Akihiro Yamada earned a Michelin star (Michelin Guide Kyoto-Osaka 2022) in a mere year-and-a-half after opening his own restaurant in Kitashinchi, Osaka.
He relocated to the Nishitenma area in 2024 with a special focus on a meticulously-designed counter and luxurious private room.
Oryori Yamada’s previous location of Kitashinchi is well-known as a nightlife district which attracts a lively crowd. In contrast, the new location of Nishitenma is an area where it is said “only the most legendary restaurants are able to build a clientele,” and has been attracting new prominent chefs and their restaurants, making it an area where only truly exceptional restaurants can survive.
It is in this new and exciting environment where the passionate Chef Akihiro Yamada has decided to reestablish Oryori Yamada.
Chef Yamada honed his skills at the three-Michelin-starred restaurant “Koryu” for eight years and then at the renowned “Koketsu,” a restaurant so popular with Japanese regulars that reservations are nearly impossible to secure.
Known in the industry as a chef who “does not fear change and constantly reevaluates and refines his work,” Chef Yamada’s creations emphasize seasonality and presentation, to which he adds his unique interpretation to. Every course is thoughtfully crafted, making the dining experience delightful and engaging.
Whether enjoying the dynamic atmosphere of the spacious counter and open kitchen where young chefs can be watched working diligently, or relaxing in the tranquil setting of a private counter room, guests are guaranteed a truly memorable experience.
Oryori Yamada has become a must-visit Japanese restaurant for anyone visiting Osaka.
