Established in 1659, Kaga Cuisine Akasaka Asada has a history spanning over 350 years and its culinary history dates back to the founding of the inn “Asada” in 1867.
Kaga cuisine is widely known as the local cuisine of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. Akasaka Asada which is located in Tokyo, has earned high praise for preserving the tradition of this cuisine while creating innovative dishes to match the present day.
The concept of Asada’s “Kaga cuisine” heavily focuses on the use of ingredients sourced from Ishikawa Prefecture.
Fresh seafood such as crab and sweet shrimp caught in the Kanazawa Port, as well as Kaga vegetables and buckwheat flour cultivated in contracted fields, and even the water used in the preparation of the dishes; are all sourced directly from Ishikawa Prefecture.
Guests are greeted by an extraordinary and dignified atmosphere upon entering the restaurant’s doors. The elegant and traditionally adorned space and furnishings allows you to forget you are in the bustling city of modern day Tokyo.
Akasaka is historically known as an entertainment district where geisha entertained visitors with traditional arts such as singing, dancing, shamisen playing, and other performances. While the number of geisha has decreased in recent years, this tradition is still alive thanks to establishments such as Akasaka Asada, and you can also enjoy the traditional arts of geisha with an advance reservation.
Celebrities, cultural icons and historical figures have all been patrons of Asakusa Asada throughout history. Please come and indulge in Kaga cuisine and experience history at this iconic establishment.
