Kitashinchi is a bustling entertainment district in Osaka which is composed of a myriad of restaurants and bars. Located at a prime spot within this district is “Shokubo Ippo,” a hideaway tempura restaurant where many Osaka business owners and executives go to eat .

Shokubo Ippo is run by Ms.Yasuko Takashima, who learned and inherited the art of Tempura from the head hostess of Shizuyoshi, one of the most famous tempura restaurants in Osaka. She has also appeared on various cooking programs and written cooking articles for big newspapers.

Ms.Takashima single-handedly prepares and cooks the tempura at her restaurant. Her own original blend of sesame oil ensures that the batter of her tempura is light and crisp and without a trace of greasiness. The amount of care and attention she puts into her craft is truly reflected in her cuisine.

The standard course includes two appetizers, approximately 15 tempura items, an anago (conger eel) rice dish, and a dessert of warabimochi.
The tempura at Shokudo Ippo does not contain eggs, making it vegan-friendly. The counter has only five seats, and parties of four or more can privately-book the entire restaurant. There is also a private room where groups with small children and babies are welcome.

Shokubo Ippo has not been listed on any Japanese restaurant reservation websites until now.
It has long been a hidden gem reserved exclusively for regular patrons, however is now being made available to be booked through My Concierge Japan to a limited number of guests who will able to experience the warm hospitality of the hostess and her carefully crafted tempura.
