High ratings on gourmet guide
Passed down for 3 generations, the owner Kenichi Fujiwara decided to turn the Japanese inn into a Japanese restaurant and spent two years rebuilding it into Sukiya-zukuri architecture, and re-opened as “Komago”, a Japanese restaurant. In the spirit of Japanese tea tradition, everything from the residence, garden, atmosphere, dishes the cuisine is served on, the way the dishes are served, and the “shitsurai”, is very carefully thought of and expressed.

Located in Kōyōen, one of Japan’s exclusive residential areas, “Komago” continues to be the only Japanese restaurant in Hyogo Prefecture listed as 3 Stars in the Michelin Guide. Komago strives to provide the highest level of hospitality possible, and would like guests to have their experience they have felt at a Japanese restaurant, to be one experienced as an art. We invite our guests to slowly and comfortably enjoy their time at Komago.
The traditional approach is taken to making the dashi or stock for our Japanese cuisine, with katsuo (skipjack tuna/bonito) and konbu (kelp) forming the basis for the creations at Komago. Not focusing on a showy performance, Komago rather simply aims to obtain the highest quality ingredients possible, specially ordering them from around Japan, produce delicious cuisine for its guests, and focus on the details such as carefully matching each dish with Japanese earthenware and dishware to suit, presentation of the dishes, and the timing in which the dishes are served. Komago provides its cuisine with the Japanese concept of “Ichigo-Ichie” in mind. Roughly translated into English as “one chance in a lifetime”, this term reminds people to cherish any gathering that they may take part in, citing the fact that meetings in life can never repeated twice.
