After eight years of training at the esteemed Kappo restaurant "Shimanouchi Ichiyo" in Osaka, Chef Nishiguchi opened his own unique restaurant in Fukushima.
The creative Japanese cuisine served at his establishment uses carefully-selected seasonal ingredients and combines traditional Japanese techniques with Western influences to create innovative flavors.
Each dish is meticulously crafted with passion and offers a delightful experience for both the eyes and the palate.

Otsuki is located in a quiet alleyway, just 3 minute walk from Shin-Fukushima Station which is 1 stop from Osaka Station.

This hidden gem offers a tranquil atmosphere where you can forget the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy your meal in leisure.

The ambience of the restaurant is very relaxing and the is constructed of only 1 L-shaped counter.

This means you can enjoy watching the chef all throughout your time there.

The menu offered here is filled with various dishes such as sashimi, fried foods, soups and other innovative items.

For our visit we ordered the Omakase and here are a few of the many amazing courses we enjoyed.

The appetizer was abalone, mashed tofu salad and fried bamboo shoot.

An assortment of sashimi.

The restaurant is stocked with over 10 different Japanese Sakes at all times and the chef provides recommendations for each dish.

Both experienced and unexperienced Sake drinkers are sure to be able to find what suits them.

Fugu (pufferfish) roe grilled with salt.

The roe was extremely creamy and rich.

Crab cream spring roll.

The wrapping of the spring roll was deliciously crunchy and filled with the creamy goodness of crab which left me craving for more.

“Hot and Sour”-style soup with abalone and yuba (tofu skin).

The umami of the abalone and mildness of the yuba combined amazingly with the heat and acidity of the soup.

Deep-fried lotus root.

There were 2 types; one with the peel left on and the other with no peel, but I liked both equally.

The final dish was the specialty Otsuki ramen which was a soy sauce based broth.

I was quite full at this point but finished every last sip of this delicious conclusion to the meal.

Each dish is meticulously created and was exceptional.

The menu changes with the seasons, months, and even days, offering a new discovery with every visit.

I will be sure to return to Otsuki and enjoy the unique flavors of the different seasons.
